LightRecycle has expanded to Washington State!
The LightRecycle Washington program began on January 1, 2015 for the collection and recycling of mercury-containing lights sold at retail.
The main categories of lights accepted by the program include compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) of all types and sizes, fluorescent tubes and high intensity discharge (HID) lights. LightRecycle Washington is funded by an Environmental Handling Charge (EHC) of $0.25 / light added to the purchase price of all light types.
A network of collection sites has been established throughout Washington State that includes retailers, municipal waste facilities, collection events, and residential curbside collection. Up to 10 lights per day can be dropped off for recycling at no charge from any individual or business in the state.
